Overview
Simgenet SMG5000-C48GT6XS is a 19" 1U rack-mounted Layer 2/Layer 3 managed Ethernet switch equipped with 48 Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Base-T) ports and 6 10G SFP+ uplink ports. With 336 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity and 178 Mpps wire-speed packet throughput, it delivers high-performance L2/L3/L4 line-rate switching services. The device integrates IPv6 dual-stack, advanced network security, In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU), and multiple redundancy protection mechanisms to ensure longest possible network uptime.
Note: This product is an enterprise/aggregation-class Ethernet switch. Operating temperature is -10°C to +50°C, power supply is 100-240VAC, and protection level is IP20. For industrial field applications requiring extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C), DC power supply, or IEC 61850-3 certification, evaluate 3onedata MES series products.
Positioning and Use Cases
SMG5000-C48GT6XS is an Enterprise Aggregation / Distribution Layer class L3 managed Ethernet switch. With 48 1G access ports and 6 10G SFP+ uplink ports, it aggregates traffic from access switches in campus and enterprise networks and forwards it to the core layer.
This is not a backbone/core switch. Core layer requirements include 40G/100G density and higher port capacity. The SMG5000 operates in the distribution/aggregation layer between core and access.

Layer 3 Routing Protocols
The device supports comprehensive Layer 3 routing protocol functionality. Static routing, RIP v1/v2, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, and EIGRP dynamic routing protocols are supported. VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) provides high availability. IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack protocol support enables compatibility with both existing and next-generation network infrastructure. This comprehensive routing capability enables building large-scale campus networks, enterprise networks, and dedicated networks.
Redundancy and Ring Protection
The ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) protocol provides <50ms protection switching time. STP/RSTP/MSTP spanning tree protocols, BPDU protection, root protection, and loop protection are supported. EAPS (Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching) protocol is also available. Static and LACP (802.3ad) link aggregation enable bandwidth aggregation and redundancy. UDLD unidirectional link detection and Ethernet OAM monitor network health.
Virtualization and Stacking
VSS (Virtual Switching System) virtualization support enables multiple physical devices to be managed as a single logical device. Up to 16 devices can be stacked simultaneously. This architecture simplifies network device and topology management, improving operational efficiency and reducing operating costs. ISSU (In-Service Software Upgrade) enables system upgrades without interrupting user data transmission.
Security Features
Advanced hardware architecture design provides protection against DoS, TCP SYN Flood, UDP Flood, broadcast storms, and high-traffic attacks. IEEE 802.1X, RADIUS, and TACACS+ authentication mechanisms are supported. L2/L3/L4-based ACL traffic recognition and filtering, port isolation, port security, IP+MAC+port binding, DHCP Snooping, and DHCP Option82 security features are available. IEEE 802.1AE MACsec provides encrypted Layer 2 security control. Hierarchical CLI protection enables assigning different management permissions to different user levels.
QoS and Traffic Management
Traffic classification based on L2/L3/L4 protocol header fields is supported. Each port provides 8 priority queues with SP, WRR, and SP+WRR queue scheduling algorithms available. CAR traffic rate limiting, 802.1P/DSCP priority re-marking, Tail-Drop and WRED congestion prevention mechanisms, traffic policing, and traffic shaping features ensure quality of service for voice, video, and data applications.
Management and Maintenance
Console, Telnet, SSH 2.0, SNMP v1/v2/v3, web-based management interface, TFTP file upload/download, and RMON event history are supported. Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) enables zero-contact configuration activation, reducing field deployment times. Compliance with IEEE 802.3az Green Energy Efficient Ethernet standard provides power savings. Intelligent fan design with automatic speed adjustment reduces noise and extends fan life.
