Simgenet Industrial Teleprotection Unit SMG50 is a next-generation industrial teleprotection device designed for secure, fast and reliable end-to-end transmission of protection relay commands on energy transmission lines. Developed to provide full compliance with TEIAS-MYD/2024-062.0 technical specification, it meets the IEC 60834-1 performance standard.

Core Features
  • 8 Isolated Digital Inputs + 8 Relay Digital Outputs: Directly operable in 110 V DC and 220 V DC systems. All inputs and outputs are mutually isolated. Outputs feature MOV overvoltage protection.
  • 2–10 ms End-to-End Transmission Time: The entire process including signal detection, processing, transmission and output is completed in the 2–10 ms range. Stable and repeatable time distribution.
  • Multiple Communication Interface: RS232, Fiber Optic (OPGW compatible) and E1 (ITU-T G.703) communication channels are supported. Depending on model configuration, up to 3 simultaneous communication links are possible.
  • Dual Redundant Power Supply: Two independent, galvanically isolated, active/active redundant -48 V DC power supplies. Hot-swappable design allows PSU replacement during operation.
  • Self-Monitoring: Communication failures and system failures (power/time synchronization) are separately reported through inverter-type alarm relays.
Command Acceptance and Noise Rejection

Digital inputs do not accept signals shorter than 2 ms as valid commands. This feature prevents transient noise and spurious signals occurring in industrial environments from being misinterpreted as commands. Operating range of 75–140 V DC for 110 V DC systems and 150–280 V DC for 220 V DC systems is supported.

Relay Durability and Load Conditions

Digital output relays are tested for continuous current carrying at 120% of rated voltage (110 V DC — 1 A / 220 V DC — 0.5 A), instantaneous open/close operation (≥ 0.3 A, ≥ 200 ms) and repeated open/close cycles (100/1000/5200 duty).

Time Synchronization and Event Logging

Primary and secondary time servers can be defined via SNTP protocol. Alarm is generated upon synchronization loss. The device can store at least 2000 time-stamped event records; records are preserved during power loss.

Front Panel and Monitoring

LED indicators show power, communication, time synchronization, input and output status. Input/output LEDs are latched and can be reset via reset button. Device status and event records can be monitored via LCD/LED display showing time information. Device status can be monitored and event records can be exported to a computer through the service port via web interface.

EMC and Environmental Durability

The device has passed IEC 61000 series EMC tests (ESD 8kV/15kV, Surge 2kV, RF 10V/m, Magnetic Field 30A/m, Damped Oscillation 2.5kV) and environmental tests (-20°C cold / +60°C dry heat). IEC 60255-27 dielectric strength tests have been applied.
