Product Overview
Simgenet Industrial Teleprotection Unit (TPU) is an industrial teleprotection device designed for secure and rapid end-to-end transmission of protection relay commands on energy transmission lines. The device is in-house developed and manufactured by Simgenet, providing a reliable solution for protecting critical energy infrastructure.
It is equipped with eight independent isolated binary command inputs and eight independent isolated binary command outputs. All input and output ports are electrically isolated from each other. Command input/output ports operate in the 40–300 VDC working range.
Communication Interfaces and Command Transfer Time
The device supports three different communication interfaces: RS232, E1 G.703, and fiber optic. Command transfer time across all communication channels is below 6 milliseconds. This low latency ensures reliable operation of high-speed fault detection and protection scenarios.
The device provides 1+1 redundant communication link support. When the primary line fails, the backup line activates to ensure uninterrupted teleprotection communication.

Model Options
Simgenet TPU is available in four different model configurations. The main chassis comes with 2 RS232 ports; E1 and Fiber modules are modular and can be added or removed later.

Industrial Durability and Protection
Simgenet TPU is designed with fully industrial-grade electronic components. The CPU component can operate up to 150°C. Unlike competing products that use 30–60A relay contacts, Simgenet TPU output ports feature 150°C-rated 72A solid-state electronics. This eliminates the risk of permanent damage during overcurrent events.

Power input, all command inputs, and all command outputs are equipped with MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) overvoltage protection. Each device undergoes aggressive stress testing prior to shipment.
Power Supply
The device operates over a wide input range of 48–160 VDC and features a 1+1 redundant power supply architecture. Maximum power consumption at 48 VDC is 16W.
Certification and Compliance
It holds CE, EMC Level 4, and LVD certifications. The device is designed in accordance with TEIAS (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation) Communications Department Technical Specification Appendix 2 (Fiber optic analog converter — teleprotection). Standard 19" rack mounting is supported.
Front Panel Indicators
The front panel features POWER, CPU, ALARM (LINE-1, LINE-2), and COMMANDS (INPUT 1–8, OUTPUT 1–8) LED indicators. The status of all command channels can be monitored in real time.
